How we check
We only show what a salon publishes about itself or what is on open maps, with a source and a date. We don’t rate quality and we don’t sell positions.
Where the data comes from
- The salon’s own website: name, address, phone, services, opening hours and price list. We read up to 5 pages per site (contact, services, prices) and respect robots.txt.
- OpenStreetMap: an open map kept up by volunteers (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL licence). The profile links to the place on the map.
- Overture Maps: an open dataset of places. We use it to find salons and to confirm that a salon from OpenStreetMap exists at the same spot.
- The salons themselves: when they confirm or correct their profile. A correction is checked before it is published.
We don’t copy descriptions, photos, reviews or price lists from booking platforms or other directories. If a salon has an online booking page, we only show a link to it.
How we check
- We store every fact with the address of the page, a short quote and the date.
- The automatic check opens the page again and looks for the value in its text. If it isn’t there, the fact isn’t shown.
- A salon is shown if we have a confirmed phone, email or booking link, or if two independent maps (OpenStreetMap and Overture Maps) show a salon with the same name at the same place. In that case the profile has only a name and an address.
- Facts go stale: contacts and addresses after 90 days, hours and prices after 30 days. Stale data is checked again or hidden.
Prices
A price on a profile comes from the salon’s price list, with a link and a date. Average prices on the “How much does it cost” pages are only shown when there are at least 5 prices from at least 3 places. “From …” prices count only if the salon has no exact price. Prices people paid (“How much did you pay?”) only go into the averages.
What the labels mean
- “Checked …”: the date the automatic check confirmed the data against its source.
- “OpenStreetMap · …”: the data comes from the place on OpenStreetMap and was checked against it on that date.
- “Collected … · awaiting check”: the data has been collected but hasn’t passed the automatic check yet.
- “Not confirmed”: the salon doesn’t say this publicly. It doesn’t mean “no”.
- “Partner”, “Paid placement”: places we have a commercial or editorial tie with. See Partnerships and ownership.
Order
Places with more published data come first (own website, prices, opening hours, online booking), then everyone else in alphabetical order. Nobody pays for a place.
